Wu Guangyu

Wu Guangyu, originally named Xianzhen, was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. From an early age he has a penchant for painting. In 1926 he entered the Beijing Institute of Chinese Painting, where he studied under Xu Yancheng. He teaches at Beiping National Art College Kyoka Gakuin. From 1949 onwards, he worked professionally at the Beijing Painting Academy. He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association. He specializes in portraiture. He adopted painting techniques from the Song and Yuan dynasties, and is known for his many depictions of myths, verses, and ancient figures. Holds joint exhibitions with his older brother Wu Guangting in Beijing and elsewhere. He is also good at renkanga.
