Enpei Ogura

  • Enpei Ogura with the art name as Ryushu, is a ceramic artist, a haiku poet, a Japanese calligrapher, and a native of Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture. He immigrated to Manchukuo at a young age. He became famous for his Enpei dolls and became a puppet maker for the Imperial Household of Manchukuo. After the war, he returned to Japan and reopened the Enpei kiln on Awaji Island. This kiln has been passed down for three generations.
