Ma Qiou

Ma Qi'ou, from Fujian, was born during the Republic of China period. From a young age, he lived in Kyoto with his uncle, Lin Shu, and learned painting. His landscape paintings gained considerable fame. He lived in Beijing for many years, where he was classmates with Wang Xuetao and developed close relationships with Qi Gong, Pu Xuezhai, Hu Peiheng, Zhou Huaimin, He Jinghan, and others. He served as a professor of fine arts at Beijing Service College and was skilled in landscape painting with profound technical expertise. He was particularly known for his fine brushwork in landscape paintings, which conveyed an effortless and elegant style.
