Tang Hong, the courtesy name is Chunzhi. Born into a family of painters in Beijing, he learned painting from an early age. In 1937, he studied under Ohi Yami, and was taught slender gold calligraphy and song-style flower-and-bird painting. After that, he studied under Zhang Daqian. After moving to Hong Kong in the early 1960s, he held a number of solo exhibitions, and at the same time founded the Sanchuan Painting Society to develop human resources.
