Shi Dingfu

• Shi Dingfu, whose other name was Zhen, his courtesy name was Tingfu, and changed his courtesy name to Dingfu after he went to Japan. Born in Jiaxing, Zhejiang. He specializes in painting people, fairies, and flowers and birds. When he was in middle age he went to Japan. At first he studied under Qian Hui'an, but later he abandoned the Qian's school and established his own school. He is also good at calligraphy and poetry. He developed his own style of painting, drawing on the strengths of various schools. In bird-and-flower painting, he inherited the techniques of Zhang Xiong and Zhu Yong of the Jiaxing school, while adding his own twists.
