Wang Langu

  • Wang Langu, whose other name is Yingchen, whose art name is Langu, born in Hangzhou, and moved to Japan in the Qing Dynasty when Jiaqing Doguang became famous as a calligrapher. In 1852, he was selected as Jinshi and Shujishi, and became Shaoqing at Honglu Temple.

    • Lu Xiu

      Wang Langu (courtesy name: Mengxiang, literary name: Xingshan) was a native of Jintan, Jiangsu Province. He passed the imperial examination as a jinshi in the 2nd year of the Xianfeng era (1852) and was selected as a shujishi (a scholar for further study in the Hanlin Academy). He eventually rose to the position of Vice Minister of the Court of Ceremonial (Honglu Temple).
