      UTAGAWA KUNISADA, later known as Toyokuni III, was one of the most celebrated ukiyo-e masters of the late Edo period. Best known for his actor prints and bijin-ga, he produced an extraordinary number of works distinguished by brilliant color, elegant compositions, and expressive figures. In his later years, he expanded his repertoire to include historical and landscape subjects while training numerous disciples. His prolific output and refined style epitomize the golden age of late Edo ukiyo-e.
