Jitan Zongle

Jitan Zongle, the courtesy name is Jitan, the art name is Quanshi, was born in Linhai, Zhejiang, and was the first monk in the late Yuan and Ming Dynasties. He is well versed in the Hundred Schools of Children, and specializes in calligraphy and poetry. In the 11th year of Hongwu (1378), he went to the Western Regions as an envoy, and when he returned to the dynasty, he conducted a geographic survey of the Yellow River. In the 24th year of Hongwu (1391) he was found guilty of being involved in the affair of Hu Weiyong. After he was pardoned, he spent his later years in the temple.
