Wu Xiqi

  • Wu Xiqi, with the courtesy name as Shengzheng and the art name as Guren, was born in Qiantang County, Zhejiang, and was a literary scholar in the Qing Dynasty. He was the 2nd place Jinshi in the 40th year of Qianlong (1775). He was selected as a Shujishi of Hanlin Yuan and worked as an editor at Shangshufang. In the 6th year of Jiaqing (1801) he served as the national historian. In his later years he lived in Yangzhou and gave lectures at the College. He is good at calligraphy, excelling in cursive and regular script. He is also proficient in poetry and writing. Along with Shao Qitao, Hong Liangji, Liu Xingwei, Yuan Mei, Sun Xingyan, Kong Guangsen, and Zeng Yu, he is known as one of the eight great masters.
