Chen Kanghou

Chen Kanghou, with the courtesy name as Xifan, was born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. He is one of the representative painters of the Maritime School. He excels in landscape painting, figure painting, and bird-and-flower painting. He was particularly good at drawing insects, often putting them in a jar to observe. He draws by adopting the perspective drawing method of Western painting. One of the most active painters in Yangzhou after Wang Xiaomou in the late Qing dynasty.
