Yu Yue

  • Yu Yue, courtesy name Yinfu, and alias Quyuan, was born in Deqing County, Zhejiang Province. He was a prominent scholar during the late Qing Dynasty, known as a master of practical learning (puxue). He served as an editor at the Hanlin Academy and the National History Institute. Later, he gained the recognition of Emperor Xianfeng, and in the fifth year of Xianfeng's reign (1855), he was appointed as the educational commissioner of Henan.
