Yang Xian

Yang Xian, courtesy name Jiqiu, also known as Jian Shan, with the alias Yong Zhai and Miao Sou, was born in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. He was a successful candidate in the imperial examination and served as the magistrate of Changzhou, Songjiang, and other regions. During the late Qing Dynasty, he was particularly skilled in the regular script (li shu) and became the teacher of the famous calligrapher Wu Changshuo.
