Liang Yuwei, styled Hongfei, with the alternate names Hangjiao and Hangxue, was from Panyu. He was a student of Chen Feng. In the 11th year of the Guangxu reign (1885), he passed the imperial examination and became a juren, and in the 15th year (1889), he was awarded the degree of jinshi. He worked as an official in the Ritual Department, overseeing the ceremonies and clerks. Liang was deeply dedicated to the study of epigraphy and seal engraving, excelled in painting, and had a particular fondness for flower-and-bird paintings. In his later years, he developed a passion for landscape painting, following the style of Yuan dynasty artists, with a focus on expressing free and unrestrained artistic concepts.
