Bian Jingzhao

  • Bian Jingzhao with the courtesy name as Wen Jin, Yanping Road Sha County, Jiangzhe (now Fujian Province), painter of the Ming Dynasty Yongle Xuande era. He enjoyed observing plants and birds and honed his sketching techniques. He was particularly good at drawing hair. During the Yongle era, he entered the court and was placed on standby. His hair paintings, together with Jiang Zicheng's portrait paintings and Zhao Lien's tiger paintings, are known as the 'Three Bests of Banchu'. In the first year of Hongxi (1425), he assumed the position of commanding Jin Yiwei. In 1426, he was dismissed for taking bribes, at the age of 70. He spent his later years painting. His sons are Byo Chufang, Byo Chushan, and Byo Chuxiang.
