Pan Jiezi

Pan Jiezi, born in Wuyi, Zhejiang, is a well-known hand-painted figure painter. In 1932 he entered Beijing Huami College. He studied under Wu Guangyu and Xu Yansun, majoring in hand-painted heavy color. After he graduated in 1936, he engaged in art education. In 1945, he copied the murals of Dunhuang. In 1949, he worked at the Shang Naval Council Literature and Art Center. In 1951, he was transferred to the Beijing Museum of Chinese History, participated in the Dunhuang cultural relics exhibition, and restored murals. In 1956, he oversaw the restoration of mural paintings at Yongle Palace in Shanxi Province. He served as a director of the China Beauty Council, a vice president of the Beijing branch of the China Beauty Council, and a chairman of the China Art Painting Association.
