-
Wei Zhike, later known as Ke, with the courtesy name He Shu, was from Shangyuan (modern Nanjing). He was the younger brother of Wei Zhihuang, and they earned their living by selling paintings. Wei was skilled in poetry and excelled in landscape painting, following the styles of the Song and Yuan dynasties and learning from his brother’s techniques. He was also proficient in flower-and-bird painting. His brushwork was elegant and refined, with a soft and graceful demeanor, exuding a delicate beauty akin to fine silk.
