Xu Qian

  • Xu Qian was modern Chinese jurist and politician with the courtesy name as Jilong and the artname as Huangshan Qianxu who was born in Xu Village, She County, Anhui Province. He entered the Kanrin-in, a shinshi in the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. He was ordered to inspect legal affairs in Europe and the United States and participated in judicial reforms in the late Qing dynasty. During the period of the Republic of China, he served as attorney general and chairman of the National Wuchang Sun Yat-sen University Affairs Committee, and has been active in North and South political circles for a long time. He also made significant contributions to the establishment and improvement of modern China's judicial system. He was also the author of legal books such as "Civil Law Overview" and "Criminal Law Series".
