MORITA SHIGERU

MORITA SHIGERU, Western-style painter, born in Ibaraki Prefecture. He is famous for his paintings of Kurokawa Noh, a traditional performing art of Yamagata Prefecture. He also painted many landscapes of Southeast Asia and Maiko. He was awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize. He served as an advisor to Nitten and was nominated as an honorary citizen of Ibaraki Prefecture. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 102.
