He Peirong

He Peibai (1880-1942) was born in Hubei Province. His courtesy name is Rin Shan. In 1906 he graduated from the Japanese Military Academy. After returning home, he became an instructor at Baoding Military Academy and an officer in Beiyang 2nd Township. In 1912, he served as Chief of Staff of the 2nd Division, Chief of Staff of the Hubei General Staff, and was granted the rank of Army General. In 1919, he served as governor of Hubei Province. After the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in July 1937, he served as Counselor of the Wuhan Council and Chairman of the Wuhan Political Affairs Commission. In October 1938, when it fell to Japan, he became a Hubei provincial agency. He died on June 6, 1942, when he was poisoned by the Japanese army.
