Yu Chenglong

Yu Chenglong, with the courtesy name Beiming and the nickname Yushan, was a renowned official from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, originally from Yongning Prefecture, Shanxi. He was a famous upright and incorruptible official in the Qing Dynasty. Born in the 45th year of the Ming Emperor Wanli (1617), Yu began his career in the 18th year of the Shunzhi Emperor's reign (1661). He held various positions, including county magistrate, prefect, and circuit official. In the 17th year of the Kangxi Emperor (1678), he was promoted to the position of Inspector of Fujian. The Governor of Fujian, Wu Xingzuo, recommended him to the imperial court, praising him as "the most upright and capable official in Fujian." In the spring of the 19th year of the Kangxi Emperor (1680), Yu Chenglong was specially appointed as the Governor of the Jifu and Zhili circuits.
