Yin Jishan

  • Yin Jishan (1695-1771), of the Zhangjia clan, courtesy name Yuanchang, pen name Wangshan, was a Manchu of the Yellow Banner. He was the son of Yin Tai, a high-ranking minister and Grand Secretary of the Eastern Secretariat during the Qing Dynasty. In the first year of the Yongzheng reign, he became a jinshi (top scholar) and held various official positions, including editor, Governor of Yunnan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and the Two Jiang regions, as well as Grand Secretary of the Wenhua Hall and President of the Hanlin Academy. He also oversaw river management and assisted in military affairs.
