  • Zheng Shixuan

    Zheng Shixuan (1901-1982) known as Moroyuan and Shixuan with the artname as was Mukang was born in Chaoyang, Guangdong Province. He has become interested in art and advertising painting since he was a kid. In 1918, he entered the Shanghai Art School, majoring in portrait sketching. He studied under Feng Charan and adopted the shading technique of Zeng Wu of the Ming dynasty. He combined Western chiaroscuro, perspective, and traditional hand-painted figure painting. He specialized in portraiture and poetry. In 1959, he taught at the Chinese Painting Department of the Shanghai Art School. Established in 1960 by the Shanghai Chinese Academy of Painting, he was one of the first artists to be hired.

  • Yu Yun

    Yu Yun with the courtesy name as Shòu shí and the artname as Yafo, was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. He excelled in seal engraving and learned landscape painting from both the Loudong and Yushan schools.
