    • Ni Yuanlu

      Ni Yuanlu, courtesy name was Ru Yu and Yu ru, art name was Hong Bao, bone in Shangyu Shaoxing Zhejiang, an official and calligrapher of the end of Ming Dynasty. His writing style was superior, especially semi-cursive script and cursive script. He broke the stereotype of calligraphy which was gently writing style, and created the new writing style which was powerful and distinctive. Together with Huang Daozhou and Wang Duo, they were called “the three pillars of calligraphy in the late Ming Dynasty. Also together with Wang Dup, Fu Shan, Huang Daozhou, and Zhang Ruitu, they were called “the five great masters of the late Ming Dynasty”, and he became a representative of the calligraphers of the late Ming Dynasty.

      Chen Daofu, courtesy name is Fufu, art name is Baiyangshanren, was born in Changzhou, Shaanxi. He was studying under Wen Zhengming but he did not stick to his master’s style and created his own style in his later years. He was good at realistic flower painting.
