Shen Shichong

Shen Shichong, a painter from the Ming Dynasty during the reigns of Emperor Wanli and Emperor Chongzhen, was styled Ziju and hailed from Huating (now Songjiang, Shanghai). He studied painting under Song Maojin and also learned from Zhao Zuo. Shen's landscape style ranged from ink-filled and moist to bold and expansive, showcasing a range of expressive techniques. He was a key figure in the "Songjiang School" and also served as a substitute for Dong Qichang in his painting.
