    Jin Xinlan, courtesy name Xinlan, with the aliases Lengxiang, Xiniu, and Xiniu Anzhu, was born in Changzhou (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). He specialized in landscape painting and studied under Wang Chen, one of the "Four Wang" painters. Jin was particularly skilled at painting flowers, especially plum blossoms. His painting style was noted for its meticulousness, much like that of Wang Shishen.
