Feng Xiangbi, a native of Heshan, Guangdong, studied classical texts and historiography under Luo Peiqiong. His poetry, particularly in the five-character regulated verse, resembles the ancient poetry of the late Tang period, similar to the styles of Tao Qian and Xie Lingyun. In painting, he traced the styles of famous Song and Yuan artists, while also drawing close inspiration from the Qing artist Xiang Lao, yet incorporating his own unique interpretation. His landscapes, with mountains, springs, and waterfalls, are filled with varied, winding forms and grand, bold elements. Only someone with a lofty and expansive mind could achieve such a mastery.
