OKAMOTO TARO

OKAMOTO TARO, Japanese artist, born in Kanagawa. He moved to France in 1930. There, he saw PABLO PICASSO's "Pitcher and Bowl of Fruit (1931)" which made a strong impression on him and led him to devote himself to painting. After returning to Japan, he received award at the Nika Exhibition and held solo exhibitions. "The Tower of the Sun", created for the Osaka World Exposition, remains the symbol of the event to this day. He became famous for statements such as "Art is an explosion."
