Song Xiaolian

  • Song Xiaolian, courtesy names Youmei and Tiemei, was a native of Shuangyang County, Jilin Province. A distinguished patriot of modern China, he excelled in poetry and calligraphy and was acclaimed as one of the “Three Eminent Figures of Jilin.” In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), he served as Governor of Heilongjiang and concurrently as Commissioner for Civil Administration. He contributed to the resistance against the Russian Empire and the defense of China’s territorial integrity. He was a political figure active during the late Qing and early Republican periods.
