Huang Jishui

  • Huang Jishui, originally named Daozhong, was courtesy-named Zhizhi and later renamed Zhichun. He also used the courtesy names Chunfu and, alternatively, Chunfu (written with a different character). His sobriquets included Shiya, Shiya Shanren, and Dinglingzi, and he was known among scholars as “Master Zhishan.” He was a native of Wu County, Suzhou Prefecture, Southern Zhili (present-day Jiangsu Province). He was the son of the Ming scholar Huang Xingzeng and a writer of poetry and prose during the Ming dynasty.
