Li Zhongqin

• Li Zhongqin, courtesy name Tongxuan, was a native of Yuexinzhuang, Wen'an County, Hebei Province. He was a court painter at the Ruyi Guan of the Qing dynasty and the sixteenth-generation member of the Li family known as the “Butterfly Li” lineage. A renowned painter of birds and flowers, he excelled in both meticulous gongbi and freehand xieyi painting. He was particularly celebrated for his butterfly paintings and became known as “Butterfly Li.”
