LI MANFENG was a painter born in Guangzhou, China, who spent his childhood in Singapore before establishing his career in Indonesia. Renowned for merging the techniques of Western oil painting with the aesthetics of Chinese art, he made a significant contribution to the development of the Nanyang style. His subjects ranged from figures and landscapes to birds and flowers, distinguished by refined color and poetic compositions. He also served as court painter to Indonesia's first president, Sukarno.
