• Sheng Maoye was a painter of the Ming dynasty, known by the sobriquets Nian'an and Yan'an, and was a native of Changzhou. He specialized in landscape painting, whose works are characterized by a serene and expansive atmosphere reminiscent of misty forests. He was also skilled in figure painting, noted for its refined execution and elegant style.
