Wu Guangxin

  • Wu Guangxin (courtesy name Zitang, alternatively recorded as Zhitang) was a native of Suqian and a prominent military leader of the Anhui Clique under the Beiyang Government during the Republican period of China. Holding the rank of General in the Chinese Army, he was also known as the brother-in-law of Duan Qirui. In June 1903, he went to Japan to study at the Artillery Department of the third class of the Imperial Japanese Army Academy, graduating in November 1904. He was appointed Minister of the Army in November 1924 and later served as Inspector General of Military Training. In February 1925, he became chairman of the Post-War Rehabilitation Conference. After retiring from public life, he lived in Shanghai, where he died of illness in 1939.
