RICHARD SERRA was one of the most influential sculptors of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Renowned for his monumental works constructed from industrial steel, he explored the relationships between weight, space, gravity, and bodily perception, fundamentally expanding the possibilities of contemporary sculpture. Widely recognized as a leading figure in post-Minimalist art, Serra created immersive environments that transformed the viewer's experience of space.
