Wang Yong

  • Wang Yong, originally named Ming and courtesy name Lifu, was a painter and calligrapher from Huating (present-day Songjiang, Shanghai) during the Qing dynasty. His artistic creations covered figures, flowers, and landscapes, characterized by lively brushwork, elegant coloring, and a refined decorative style. In his early years, he studied poetry, calligraphy, and painting under Yuhu Shanren, namely Gai Qi. He later exchanged artistic ideas with Songhu (Qian Du), Peizhou (Liao Yuncha), and others. In his later years, he devoted himself to landscape painting, producing works noted for their richness and composure, inheriting the styles of Dong Qichang and Wang Yuanqi.
