Qin Yi
-
Qin Yi, courtesy name Fenggang and art name Wuyuan, was a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu, and resided in Wumen (present-day Suzhou). A Qing dynasty painter, he was also known as “Qin Ran.” He studied landscape painting under Wang Hui and excelled in small-scale scenes of waterside villages. He was particularly noted for his distinctive rendering of fine willow trees with dotted leaves, earning the nickname “Qin Willows.” His paintings were often accompanied by his own poetic inscriptions, characterized by a plain and natural style.
