Fang Cong

  • "Wang Luonian, courtesy name Sheqi, pseudonym Ouke, was a native of Qiantang (now Hangzhou). He studied under Dai Yongbai, and his landscape paintings followed the style of Dai Xi, characterised by a refined and ethereal quality. He was regarded as the equal of Shen Tang, and was also skilled in calligraphy and seal carving. In the late Qing dynasty, he served as an art teacher at the Two Lakes Normal School; after the Xinhai Revolution, he settled in Shanghai to sell his paintings, becoming one of the leading figures of the Shanghai School."
