OTAKE YUICHI

• OTAKE YUICHI, iron sculptor from Japan. After graduating from the sculpture department of Nagoya Zokei Art Junior College, he went to Switzerland and began making copperplate engravings. He then returned to Japan and has been working in the field of iron sculpture up to the present. After a period of figurative sculpture centering on human figures, he developed into a search for simplified forms in iron. His works, which have a strong sense of presence, have a craftsman-like texture.
