An Jung-sik was a painter active from the late Joseon Dynasty through the period of Japanese colonial rule. He was born into the Sunheung Ahn clan and was known by the art name Simjeon. He studied in China and painted portraits of Emperors Gojong and Sunjong. In 1911, he served as a professor at the Joseon Calligraphy and Painting Association together with Jo Seok-jin. In 1918, he founded the Joseon Calligraphy and Painting Association and became its president.
