MORIUCHI KEIKO

KEIKO MORIUCHI was the final member of the Gutai Art Association and is recognized as a leading figure in post‑war Japanese avant‑garde. Joining Gutai in her teens, she moved to New York in 1965 and interacted with artists such as Ad Reinhardt and Isamu Noguchi. Returning to Japan, she developed diverse practices including sculpture, murals, installations, and ceramics, exploring the consciousness and energy of the computer era. Known for her decorative use of gold leaf and mandala motifs, she received awards such as the Kyoto Prefectural Governor’s Prize. Her works have been widely exhibited globally and are held in collections at institutions like Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art and the John Powers Foundation.
