FUKAMI SUEHARU
-
"FUKAMI SUEHARU, born in Kyoto in 1947, is a pioneering Japanese ceramic artist renowned for his pale-blue celadon (Sei‑hakuji) works. Rejecting traditional wheel‑thrown techniques, he casts porcelain into sharp, minimalist forms through pressure casting. Fukami won the Grand Prix at the 1985 Faenza International Ceramic Exhibition and received the Mainichi Arts Award in 1996. In 1999, he was featured among the “Ten Contemporary Ceramic Artists of the World” at the Faenza International Ceramics Museum. His works are held in prominent collections such as the National Crafts Museum (Japan), the Brooklyn Museum, and the Clark Art Institute. Fukami’s oeuvre evokes infinite space and time through serene, abstracted forms and delicate glaze textures "
