OTSUKA MOKICHI

• OTSUKA MOKICHI, born in Tokyo in 1956, studied Japanese painting at Tokyo University of the Arts (BFA and MFA), and later trained in Italy at the G. Ballardini State School of Art in Faenza. His practice blends Japanese-painting techniques with sculptural ceramic forms, often featuring cats adorned with intricate inlayed dot motifs. Otsuka has exhibited across Italy, Japan, Paris, and New York. His works are included in prestigious collections such as the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; the Victoria & Albert Museum (UK); and the Faenza International Ceramics Museum.
