Gu Mengyou, styled Yuzhi, was a poet of the late Ming and early Qing periods. He was a native of Jiangning (present-day Nanjing, Jiangsu Province). He was the great-grandson of Gu Yingyu, a vice envoy of the Ming Dynasty. In the 15th year of the Chongzhen reign (1642), he passed the provincial examination as a suigong scholar. After the Qing Dynasty came to power, he refused to serve in office and lived out his life as a loyal remnant of the Ming.
