蔣孟育

  • Jiang Mengyu, courtesy name Daoli, and art name Wuan, was a native of Pubian in Jinmen, Tong’an County during the Ming dynasty. His grandfather was Yushan and his father was Xiang. Following his father, he moved to Longxi, where his family has resided ever since. He entered the Longxi prefectural academy and became known as one of the “Seven Talents of Longxi.” He was admitted as a student official of Longxi and successfully passed the imperial examinations in succession in the 17th year of Wanli (1588) and the 18th year of Wanli (1589). He later returned home to care for his parents. In the spring of the year Gui-mao (1613), he was summoned to the capital, fifteen years after his earlier appointment. He served as a Hanlin Academy compiler and Shujishi, and subsequently held posts such as Right Assistant Lecturer, Left Instructor, Rector of the National Academy in Nanjing, and Vice Minister of Personnel in Nanjing. After his death, he was awarded the honorary rank of Shangshu (Minister) and received the posthumous title “Wenjian.” He has since been enshrined and honored as a local worthy.
