Chen Guan, courtesy name Chengjiang, with art names Baishi and Daochu, was a native of Wu (present-day Suzhou) and a representative artist of the Wumen School during the late Ming dynasty. He excelled in landscape painting, with a style that inherited the traditions of the Song and Yuan dynasties. Following the methods of Zhao Boju, Zhao Mengfu, and Wen Zhengming, he skillfully depicted imagery such as dense forests, overlapping mountain ridges, winding paths, and ponds to create serene and leisurely atmospheres in his works.
