Su Xuan

• Su Xuan, with the courtesy name Erxuan, another name Xiaomin, and sobriquets Sishui and Langgong, was from Xin’an. He studied calligraphy and seal carving under Wen Peng, examined ancient books, old inscriptions, and broken steles, leaving no source unexplored. He directly modeled Han dynasty seals, copying and carving nearly a thousand seals, devoting himself to the study of character structure. His style was bold and robust, founding the Sishui school, and he was renowned alongside Wen Peng and He Zhen in the seal carving world.
